Old Farmhouse in the Fukushima Countryside

I am from New Zealand and have lived in Japan for 4 years until the earthquake last year. The house belongs to my friend Kuskabe, a kiln builder and potter who will be away a lot of the time. We both left or a year after the nuclear catastophy began last march. While we were away the place bacame a real shamble so we are looking to make it livabe again, though we are not sure if we will stay here for so much longer…still thinking about the situation. It is a lovely place and we love it very much, being back has been sad and moving at the same time. We are looking for people whe are keen to come and experience another side of Japan and help out for a while. I should add that I am still not sure of the nuclear stability (instablitiy is probably more accurate) but reassure you we recieve most of our food from other parts of the country.
We are a vegetarian and smoke free household.
We are both artists and love music. We enjoy people and are social but also enjoy quiet and peace. I am also teaching english part-time in the evenings at my old job.

nothing flash and we may occastionally have to ask you to share a room at times if we have more people staying. Just let us know in advance if this is not an option for you. Another option is the upstaris room that has very little daylight.

Expectations:

it gets pretty hot in the summer and we have lots of bugs of all kinds, not a place for the faint hearted.

Food:

Cooking is always a joint effort, as I said above, vegetarian, and practically don`t use milk products, but dont mind if you need to do independat meals at times to suit yourself.
