Help a family in Italy

We are a Dutch family running a small farm at Rotella, close to the beautiful city of Ascoli Piceno in the Marches. The crops we organically grow are saffron and herbs for cooking and tea. We have 2 children, Mels (a 4-year old chap) and Filippa (a 1-year old lady). Their mum and dad, respectively called Anne and Caspar just started the farm so there’s plenty of work.

For those who like to babysit our kids we either look for people that speak Dutch or Italian.

We have two spare bedrooms (with a view!) and we’re willing to share the rest of the house with you. Because it’s an old farm house life is still very simple. We have a woodstove to cook on which also heats the radiators in the house and hot water. It’s basic but we do have a wifi connection.

Expectations:

We prefer people to stay with us for a longer period (a couple of weeks), but other suggestions are welcome. We have planted saffron bulbs and harvested our first big harvest at the end of the year. Next saffron harvest will be in the middle of October until the middle of November, it's nature's call). We pick the saffron flowers by hand and then dry the stigmas (the actual saffron ) directly afterwards. So a hand (or more) is more then welcome in that period! Next to saffron we grow herbs we dry and sell for cooking and tea. And of course we have our own vegetable garden. For us (Anne and Caspar) to be able to work the land, dry and actual sell the saffron and herbs some help with the kids is also more than welcome. And help with the website is also appreciated. If you decide to apply, please let us know your preference (what would you like to do and also what NOT).

Food:

We cook as organically as possible, also from our own vegetable garden. We always take time to prepare and enjoy our food. If you like to cook, we're also very interested to learn your cuisine.
